Death By Billions

Christian. Husband. Father. Artist. Missionary.

prolife-equals-antiwoman-deacti asked: Are you against gay marriage? If so, then why is that? After all, homosexuality isn't a choice and it can't be changed, which means that being against gay marriage is like being against inter-racial marriage or inter-cultural marriage. I'm sure you think it's hateful to be against those types of marriage, so why do you think it's somehow not hateful to be against gay marriage?

I don’t necessarily think it’s ALWAYS hateful to be against those kinds of marriages. Sometimes it’s just ignorance. Hate isn’t always a factor. Although, when it is involved, it is completely unacceptable.

Now, am I opposed to homosexual marriage? No. Here’s why: There’s no such thing. You can call it a marriage if you like, but secular thought never conceived of such a thing. Marriage is defined by the One who created it, namely, God. To call homosexual relationships a marriage would be an incredible misnomer.

If the government wants to create another form of “union” for homosexuals, I guess that’s the secular states prerogative. I do, however, feel that said “unions” will be deleterious for society on the whole and the minority communities specifically.

Finally, I don’t appreciate your comparison of homosexuality and race/ethnicity, and neither do many of my black friends. The gay marriage debate has absolutely NOTHING in common with the civil rights movement. It is intellectually dishonest, ignorant, and extremely disrespectful to say otherwise. Your presuppositions aren’t supported by the vast majority of African-Americans, in general, and many of the men and women of the civil rights era, in particular.

I hope I answered your “questions”. If you have any more I’d be glad to answer them.

p.s. As far as your user name goes: If pro-life equals anti-woman, what should be said about the millions of women who have been killed due to pro-choice policy?
